One year experience of being an Early Stage Researcher (ESR)

Why i decided to become an Early Stage Researcher?

I was working in an organization before becoming an ESR. I did my internship at Deutsche telekom, so i was aware of the industrial perspective of a research, and I wanted to accelerate my technical technological knowledge so that I could cope up with the theoretical and practical aspects of research. That is the reason, I applied for the ESR position, to add more knowledge content to my profile. This knowledge comes from beneficiaries and partner organizations involved in the program as well as the recruited ESRs. They are from different domains and countries. It makes the program multidisciplinary very dynamic and has good international disclosure.

And during my first year, i had the impression that i was right. My host institution is Neostrain. And NeoStrain is a leading company in the measurement technologies for the construction industries in Poland. And i choose my host institution in an industry because it gives the perfect combination to further my education, but at the same time fascinated by the real job world. It gives me a new perspective on research, but it’s not completely dissociated from the university world. And i am really thankful to the unique structure of a Marie-Curie, because it gives me to integrate into the academic world as well, and i have the same training as those who develop their careers in a university. And Secondments at BAM was really a unique experience that let me discover new things, new researcher and get close to these more than ever before. It was also interesting that the intended deliverables are always different and tailored to benefit both me and the host partner.
And here are some of my first-year milestones:

Conference and technical visit at Østerild

I am so glad to share with you the  amazing experience of participating in my first conference in this project!   Technical system degradation conference  - took place in  liptovsky mikulas which are the military academy in Slovakia, between 04/04/18 and 07/04/18. The event was quite challenging for me since it was almost fully in polish.  Here is my  p oster: "I realized this morning that your event content is the only event related 'stuff' I still read. I think that's because it's not about events, but about the coming together of people to exchange ideas and learn from one another and that's valuable information for anyone." — Traci Browne I also learn from some presentations in the different technical system and interesting discussions which push me to think in a different way! The conference is not only about work,  it gives us a chance to meet different people. Here are some snaps: ...

Gliwice bridge over Klodnica River

Hello Everyone! Post about SHM of wonderful Gliwice bridge over Klodnica River 😊. A first-class infrastructure is an inevitable factor for economic growth. Bridges have a key position in this infrastructure system. Its functional failure or collapse has significant economic and financial consequences. For this reason, it is important to regularly monitor the current bridge condition, and derive estimates of the remaining service life. This ensures a safe and economically sensible use for existing structures. For this purpose,  The research is conducted on the real bridge within DTS (Silesian Central Motorway)  in Gliwice ( Shared object for INFRASTAR project ),  which is  instrumented with various sensors .  The location of the bridge is illustrated in Figure below.  The sensors were install by NeoStrain in the construction during the erection works. Figure:  Gliwice Bridge  I t is located along the Katowice -...
